I found these white, 24-inch, floating shelves at Walmart for $24 each. I bought 3 shelves to place beside my kitchen cabinets to add a little colour to our white kitchen.
Installation Instructions
We first used a dry-erase marker to mark the center of the wall and measured the first shelf 17 inches from the counter. The second shelf was measured 12 inches from the bottom shelf, and the third shelf was 10 inches from the second shelf.
I marked the direction I wanted the shelves to be placed since I wanted the hide the visibility of the screw holes. I had the screws on the bottom shelf face the counter and the top 2 shelves face upwards.
We bought specific tile drill bits and started our holes with the smallest drill bit. Once the whole was started we switched to the drill bit, which matched the size of the wall plugs. Keep in mind that if you hit a stud, you do not need wall plugs.
Once the plugs were in place we were able to screw the brackets in place.
After placing the shelves onto the brackets, you will use the screws to secure the bracket to the shelf. Once the shelves are secured, you can plug the screw holes with the plugs provided.
Now it’s time to decorate!
Floating Shelf Decor
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like floating shelves for our kitchen but I actually love decorating them! I change the style constantly and it brings so much interest to our kitchen.
