Tips And Tricks
1. Idea Pins
I’ve started creating 1-2 idea pins a day and they have skyrocketed my Pinterest views; I got over 2,000 impressions in 1 day. I know that people don’t care about impressions and that is true if not a single person clicks on your pin BUT they really do matter because the more people see your pin, the more chances you have for people to click on your pin.
2. Be Consistent
For the past week, I have been creating 5 pins a day, I schedule a 2 around noon and 3 at night during the workweek. I have been using Tailwind Smart Schedule recommendations to help me choose the best times to post as they have prime times listed on their scheduler. (You can use this website for free)
I save 20-30 pins a day, in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, this seems to be working for me, maybe it doesn’t matter (I don’t know) but I know that Pinterest knows that I’m interacting with them often throughout the day. Pinterest likes people who interact with their platform often and will help push their pins more than those who aren’t.
3. Pinterest SEO
I changed my name to include topics that my page is about, for example, Sonny Haven / money saving tips and successful side hustles. I am repeating my blog topic anywhere I can so that Pinterest can learn what my page is all about and push it to people who are interested in my topics.
When posting a pin, I repeat what my photo says in the title and my description. I also include what my page is about in my description because I know that most people don’t read the description but Pinterest sure does!
(I have not used hashtags yet, I can’t find a clear answer about whether or not they help but I might try this soon in order to find out)
4. Recreate My Best Pins
I look through all of my top-performing pins and create a different version of the same pin sometimes using the exact same words. Just keep in mind that the photo or link must be different in order to count as a fresh (new) pin. This means the wording can stay the same but the background photo or link must be different.
5. Use Keywords
I type my topic into the search bar and use one of the top searches as my pin title to help people find my pin.
I also look through the analytics trends (explained in my last post) to find which topic is most popular and create a pin title for that as well.
6. Trial And Error
Some of my pins get 10 impressions and others get hundreds of impressions, it’s really just trial and error. Keep recreating your best pins and Pinterest will keep promoting them!
7. Highest Ranking Pins
Words like: Tips, Hacks, Simple, Easy, Quickly, Fast.
Numbers, for example, “7 Hacks”, “4 Tips”, “10 Ways To..”
Use photos that are aesthetically pleasing and eye-catching but don’t take away from the words. I use multiple variations of the same photo through Tailwind, here you can upload 1 photo and it will create several variations of that photo in order to count as a fresh pin. This is a gamechanger if you’re spending hours creating pins.
(Where do I get these free photos? Canva.com; I download a free photo from Canva and upload it into Tailwind)
7. Don’t Give Up
I’m not sure why you started your Pinterest page but whatever your dream may be, don’t give up on it.
I took the month off work and am currently working 8-10 hours a day, every day, to start my blog and Pinterest page. It is a massive learning curve, especially, for those who are just getting started. Sometimes I question if it’s worth it but it’s better to try than to always wonder “what if”.
I actually started my Pinterest page on New Years’ day and instantly got 50-100 impressions on some of my pins but then it completely tanked for the next 3 days, literally 0 impressions. I couldn’t figure out what was happening but then the next weekend it jumped a little higher and then it tanked again on the Monday after. It took me a solid week and a half of 8+ hours a day creating my blog and pins before I finally started to gain some traction. I went from having 18 impressions on January 10th to having 159 on January 11th and then it began to double to 268, to 568, and then 2k on January 16th.
I was heavily discouraged on January 10th to just stop daydreaming about starting a blog but just kept researching and posting and that is when it started to come together. I’m am very lucky to have the month off work to fully indulge myself in starting this journey but I will say that I have put about 70+ hours a week into starting it. This may not be worth the work for many people and maybe you don’t have that much time but you can still do it in a slower more manageable way; I’m just a full-throttle Type A kind of gal.
If I can do it so can you, I have no background in marketing, I’m just too stubborn to quit. Follow along and learn from my mistakes, I will try my best to make it a success, especially now that I have put this out into the world; how embarrassing would it be if I fail now??
Good luck on your own personal journey friends!
